Tamarind Rice

Ingredients:


Rice                     -  2 cups
Pulukkaicchal         -  3 table spoons
Sesame oil             -  2 table spoons
Mustard seeds       -  1 table spoons
Black gram dal       -  1 tea spoon
Bengal gram dal      -  1 tea spoon
Ground nut             -  1 table spoon
Asafoitida               -  1 pinch
Curry leaves           -  a few leaves
Red chillies             -  2 - 3 nos


1.  Wash and cook rice and spread it in a plate and allow it to cool.
2.  Heat Sesame oil in a kadai.
3.  Add mustard, black gram dal, bengal gram dal and groundnut.
4.  Once the mustard crackles and the dals change colour remove it from the stove.
5.  Add curry leaves, turmeric powder and asafoitida to the hot oil with dal mustard etc. and transfer the mixture immediately into the bowl with cooked rice.
6.  Add the pulikkacchal and turmeric powder to the rice and mix thoroughly.
7.  Puliyodarai ready.
