Green Thuver ki Kichidi

Fresh Thoor dal is available all through winter in Gujarat.
When I first saw it I was surprised and became very curious about the types of dishes cooked with it.
I have started making most of them in my kitchen on regular bases.
Its used to make koftas, kichidi and kachoris.
Its good for health and tastes almost like fresh peas.  This kichidi is made in gujarati kitchen atleast once a week in season.

Ingredients:

Basmati rice            -  1 cup
Fresh green thovur  -  1/2 cup
Green chillies          -  2 nos
Potato                    -  1 large
Cinnamon stick       -  1 inch long
Jeera                      -  1 tea spoon
Fennel seeds(sauf))  -  1 tea spoon
Cloves                   -  2 - 3 nos
Red chillies             -  2 nos
Ghee                      -  2 table spoons
Salt to taste

1.  Wash and soak rice in 1 1/2 cups of water.
2.  Finely chop Green chillies and potatoes.
3.  Heat ghee in a kadhai and add finely broken cinnamon stick, jeera, fennel seeds, cloves and finely broken red chilles.
4.  Once the spices are brown add the finely chopped green chillies, potatoes and shelled fresh green thuver(thuvarai).
5.  Fry till the green chillies gives out flavour then add the soaked rice along with the water and salt.
6.  Cook covered till the rice and the fresh thoor dal is cooked.
7.  Its a very tasty rice good easy to digest.
8.  Serve hot with papad, tomato chutney and curd.
